VIMA SPORTS TRAINING GLASSES

This particular project began with a call and conversation from my good friend Ashton who runs Studio Flight - a creative agency based out of Oklahoma City. Earlier this year he brought me on to photograph former Bachelor and TV personality Sean Lowe, and now he was wanting to bring me on a project for a Google spin-off company that was looking to utilize a brand new technology to better train athletes. After hearing the project goals and seeing the initial concepts of the product, I signed on immediately. We planned to shoot over the course of 3 days in an abandoned warehouse in OKC with 6 athletes, a full videography and photography team and the company's founder and CEO. We took a few weeks to map out shot lists and reference images, and then we hit the ground running on this shoot. We built several backdrops, loaded in all kinds of gear and equipment and spent 72 hours shooting video, photo and product material. These are the images that came from that shoot.

It's also worth noting that while I always aim at shooting everything in camera as best as possible, shooting glasses presented quite the challenge both in production and post-production . Due to the nature of the challenge, I averaged 5 hours per photo in the post production edit of this series, as it included a deep-dive into frequency seperation, healing and retouching, and specifically redoing most of the glasses concerning reflections or light variations based on the glasses materials. In the end it was more than worth it for the final product, and between the VIMA team, the Studio Flight agency and myself, I dont think we could be any happier with what we walked away with.
